The name Taman Sari refers to the water palaces of ancient Javanese kratons.
It was the personal mission of Hj. BRA. Mooryati Soedibyo, the grand daughter of Surakarta’s Susuhunan Pakubuwono X, to “share this precious inheritance with the rest of the world”, and thus she created Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, which currently has two branches, in Jakarta and Sheraton Mustika.
At the branch in Jl. Wahid Hasyim in Central Jakarta located approximately a hundred meters behind the united building, one enters a large lobby and overlooking staircase and gallery, which like the rest of the spa has a strong Javanese flavor in design and decoration.
Inside this area which only 5 minutes from our business center is also the shop selling a large selection of home brand spa products that allows you to experience the slice of heaven. Each area is advertised by sign written in Javanese. The lobby leads past the reception to the beauty salon where you can get your facials, manicures, hand and foot massage etc.
Next you reach a small jamu bar which is attractive in an old fashioned kind of way. This looks out over the small, low-lit courtyard and bathing pool area with ist accompanying hot-and-cool style Jacuzzi pool (ie one pool is hot and one cool depending on your preference).
Upstairs are the nine standard massage room with natural rock-effect walls. Executive rooms also have a bathtub. Upstairs there is also a large hall catering for up to 100 people. In here there is tae-bo and aerobics, or meetings and presentations if you so wish.
The philosophy of the massage is East meets West and there are plenty of treatments and packages to choose from including the new post maternity treatment, foot spa, soft massage with air blanket, hand spa and aromatherapy bath.
According to Operatons Manager, “We want to provide not just a Javanese massage but the righ massage for each customer, for example with our new post-maternity package”. There is also a small, modern gym tucked in amongst the old-style paraphernalia.
